THEY CAME LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
A group of explorers arrive in the remote town of Birchlake, Northern California, to investigate the appearance of mysterious stone walls.
WHAT THEY FOUND WERE QUESTIONS
A teenage girl has disappeared without a trace.
FOR NOT EVERYONE IS AS THEY SEEM
Soon it becomes clear that the two events may be connected in the most terrifying way. Because sometimes the walls we build end up closing us in . . .
At first I did start to think how exciting mysterious stone walls could be? We were given an introduction into the phenomenons that occur around the world. Including the Nazca Lines in Peru and the Sajama Lines in Bolivia.
I found this very interesting, and actually looked it up to get to know more. However, this book wasn’t just about stone walls. There was also the mystery of Alaina, a 14 year old girl who had vanished into the woods in town.
This book gave me the chills. It was the way the people in the town were reacting to things that were happening, you just knew that this town had a story to tell. What follows is a tale of eerie goings on, strange townfolk who have creepy wisdom to bestow on Nolan and his gang. A lot of fog, things that go bump in the night or knock in the closet. This story had all the tell tale scary story stuff that we need.
If you have read Michael Rutgers ‘The Anomaly’ you will have met these Nolan, Pierre, Ken, Molly and Kristy already. I however haven’t read it, but I will definitely be buying it now. There was a few mentions to ‘The Anomaly’ however it didn’t reveal the plotline nor did it deter from the story being told.
The chemistry between the characters was good, and from them we got a bit of sarcasm and light relief in among the creepy stuff.
I’d recommend this book to those who like a bit of scare fest. But content warning it does involve witchcraft
